Camelus Dromedarius It has taken me years of listening to begin to properly appreciate this album. It is the hardest listen out of any quality extreme metal I have heard, but I am confident now that this is the best extreme metal album I have ever heard. The vision and scope is unlike any other. Favorite track: II – Discernment: Khyphotic Suzerains.

Matten The best Abyssal album. The least accessible one as well. I always did like it, but only now came around to the opinion of it being the best one - there's just nothing quite like it.
From the haunting ambience and hypnotic guitars of part I, to the intense oppressive darkness of part III, you're taken on a hopeless journey. The slight glimpse into hope in the wildly varied Khyphotic Suzerains will be beautiful every time. Favorite track: II – Discernment: Khyphotic Suzerains.

bcb723 Straight up suffocating doom mastery. You get the sense that this album was carefully thought out over the entirety of their four year absence. Honestly though, the way the drums enter two and a half minutes into track two? Badass insanity. What makes these songs so intense are the almost ambient passages weaved throughout that heighten the cacophony. This shit just does not let up from beginning to end. Just blackhole dark, end of times shit. Think I need to get that album artwork shirt also... Favorite track: III – Descent: We Who Beheld The Fall Of Axioms.

about

Otherworldly mysterious UK dark ambient death metal entity ABYSSAL have completed work on their fourth opus “A Beacon In The Husk”. Standing as the most colossal and ambitious ABYSSAL offering yet, “A Beacon In The Husk” stretches the ABYSSAL sound into even darker, more abstract, noiser, and progressive realms than anything within the ABYSSAL oeuvre. Four years following the acclaimed “Antikatastaseis” observation, an album in which saw ABYSSAL take a slightly more structured approach to the enveloping death metal horror and one that brought awareness to ABYSSAL as one of the most prominent death metal artists emerging from the UK, “A Beacon In The Husk” brings the audial terror to a whole new suffocating and overbearing complex level, even at times making it the most outlier ABYSSAL album to date.
